Expanding Regional Footprint


Having recently grown its UAE presence with the opening of a Dubai facility, Mahesh Mithran, General Manager, Worldwide Oilfield Machine ME, speaks about company’s key growth areas.

How long has your business provided services / solutions for the oil & gas sector ?

Worldwide Oilfield Machine Middle East (WOM ME) has been providing its services to various oil and gas customers in the MENA region since 1999.

Where are you located within the Middle East / GCC region and how important is this part of the world to your overall business?

We are located in Jebel Ali Free Zone (South) with a facility measuring around 11,000 square metres. This comprises our Middle East branch office, providing for shop floor handling assembly, testing and repair of our equipment.

Are there any recent standout projects your company has recently worked on within the region?

There have been quite a few , with some of the particularly noteworthy projects in recent times including a US$ 2 million deal for the supply of standpipe and cement manifolds to a leading rig company; a $1.5 million project for the supply of various well testing equipment to an oilfield services company for operations in Iraq. We also provided manifolds, equipment and services to a leading services company in Kuwait, in a contract valued in excess of $1 million.

What is the competitive advantage your business has over others providing similar services / solutions to the oil & gas industry?

We feel the biggest advantage WOM ME holds is our fully-fledged facility, which not only provides new equipment to various customers
in the region, but also stocks a wide variety of spare parts. Additionally, we have fully trained staff who can service and repair our equipment, catering to customers requirement for this level of support either onsite or offsite.

What has been the highlight of the last 12 months for your company?

The new Jebel Ali, Dubai office and shop floor facility for Worldwide Oilfield Machine ME was inaugurated on November 8, 2012 by Mr. Sudhir Puranik, CEO of WOM Group of Companies. The grand opening was attended by 180 guests that included esteemed customers from the region and WOM representatives from our worldwide locations.

What are you most excited about for the coming year, in terms of your business outlook?

With a renewed emphasis from all oil and gas producers to prospect for more oil and gas, and new markets opening up in Iraq, the CIS states and parts of Africa, WOM ME is poised to capture the growing demand for equipment and services from within these regions.

Are there any new facility openings in this region planned for the next 1-2 years?

In order to be prepared for the growing demand this region will offer in the near future, we have taken an adjacent plot of 12,000 square metres, with expectations for this to be operational by the end of 2014.
